A Dedication to the Victims of the Tsunami of March 11, 2011, 2012, Installation

I would like to take this opportunity of exhibiting in Japan to dedicate a work to the victims of the Tsunami that took place only a year ago. The project is a continuation of my practice where I write the Heart Sutra, a Buddhist text, onto objects as a way to reflect on life’s impermanence. For this work, I chose to write on shells because of their intimate relationship with the sea and the spirals from their formations seem to resemble the eternal cycle of life and death. For those of you who are interested in this project, please do join me in the act of writing on the shells. The text could be the Heart Sutra or a blessing of your own. I believe the joint force of a collective consciousness is enormous. Let us with our good will send blessings through wisdom and through nature to those who suffer under unfortunate circumstances. May peace stay with us all.
